~Kauai~ Day 5~

This morning a few of us went zip lining.  It was a lot of fun!  I felt bad for Jeff, Randee, and Darinda for having to stay back with all of the kids except Hunter and Jackie :).  But Darinda has already done the zip lining, Randee is pregnant, and Jeff just had knee surgery, so none of them could participate with us.  The scenery was beautiful, but where isn't it in Kauai?  It rained on us a few times, but it passed quickly so we could move on :)  Hunter loved it!

After zip lining, Hunter and Jackie did the extreme swing. This is where, they lift you clear up to the treetops with a rope, you pull the rope then free fall down and swing.  Hunter had a blast and was upset he couldn't do it again, lol.  We had to get back to the resort, because we had one last activity to do before we headed back to Utah.  We were going to take a boat ride up to a fern grotto,  but with all the rain we got today, when we got to the entrance to the boat ride, we were told that the boat ride had been canceled because the rivers were to high.  They said that some of the roads were covered with water and there was no way we would be able to get under the bridges because of the high water.  So we all headed back to the resort for one last swim.
Before leaving he grotto, the kids found a coconut, so Dave pulled out his Hawaiian skills and opened it for them. Too bad it was rotten.

Before heading to the airport, we wanted to get one last picture.  One of our family in the Tunnel of Trees.  It didn't quite turn out the way we wanted.  You can't really see the trees, but oh well, it's a cute picture of me and the kids.

Our trip was way too short.  We could have stayed a few more days.  It was so fun!  I was a little worried about the flight home.  It was the red eye, and I was worried that Garrett wouldn't sleep and that he'd keep everyone else up.  But to my surprise, he and all the kids slept GREAT on the plane.  Like the entire way. It made the flight home go really quickly.  WE had a Great time in Kauai!  Thanks Jerry and Darinda for a fun family getaway!

~Kauai~Day 4~

Today was our free day to do whatever we wanted, until that evening when we were going to a luau.  Most of us decided to stay and swim at the resort and play in the ocean.  Nate and Stacey's family went on a hike, but the rest of us played in the water all day.

We fed fish again.  Some didn't get to do it the day before.

And the girls made necklaces again.  The rest of the day was for swimming!

Dave and the girls made a fort/castle to keep them safe from the waves reaching them.  It worked!

Lexi, Darinda, and Jocelyn were all invited up on stage to do the hula, since they all had birthdays in September.  They each got to bring a guest with them :)

~Kauai~ Day 3~

On this day, our group split up.  In the morning one group went tubing through the old sugarcane mines.  The rest stayed back with the little ones who couldn't go. While the morning group was gone, the girls went and made sea shell necklaces in the hotel lobby, fed the fish, and went to look at the birds.

The girls loved making bracelets, Hunter wasn't interested in this at all, lol.  Who can blame him :)

We then got ready to meet up with the other group and swap out little ones, so the 2nd group could do the tubing activity.  It was a lot of fun!

Group 2.  The tubing activity was a lot of fun.  We went pretty fast through the mines.  There were a few slides which was fun.  It was also fun going through the dark tunnels.  They did give you headlights so you could see though.   Lexi was the leader of the whole group.  She was up front with 2 of the group guides, so she wasn't really with any of our group at all.  But she wasn't bothered by that.  The guides gave her flowers and plants to put in her helmet.  She looked like Thor at one point, with ferns sticking out both sides of her helmet ( I wish I had had a camera to take a picture).  When the ride was over, she told us that her and the tour guide are best friends :).  Mckell almost flipped over in one of the tunnels.  We were rounding a corner and she hit the wall, and the other tubes were running into her, pushing her tube up against the wall.  Since she was lighter than anyone there, her tube pretty much was flipping over.  Luckily one of the tour guides saw this happening and quickly swam to keep Mckell from flipping.  She  admitted she was a little bit scared that she might flip.  Luckily she didn't :)

The tube activity was a lot of fun.  The views driving up were beautiful, and the water was "refreshing". :)  The tour guides told us if we said any C or F swear words they would splash us.  The C and F swear words were "cold", "chilly", "freezing" and words like that.  So instead we could say the water was refreshing", lol.
